Back-end Developer

Van Ons has a very exciting vacancy for a back-end developer who can take some of our largest projects to the next level. Get to know us below and check the details!

You will work together with other talented, driven and fun colleagues on our production floor from the heart of Amsterdam. With a focus on the back-end, you are an important player in the projects we deliver for our customers. If we do well, we will also win prizes, such as a listing with New York Media Group in the Deloitte Tech Fast 50. Or we win the Website of the Year 2020, 2021 & 2022 election with the Indebuurt platform. We work for marketing and advertising agencies or directly for the client in the Netherlands and abroad and are always looking for the best technical solution for the customer's problem.

Building complex websites and platforms together with highly experienced senior colleagues

Your role and competencies

• We are looking for someone with PHP knowledge at medior/senior level.
• We work a lot with Laravel: We often use Nova, Statamic and Filament, so it's nice if you already know something about them.
• You feel comfortable setting up high-load and high-performance environments and you know how to set up back-end environments efficiently and securely.
• Object oriented programming holds no secrets for you and you become a bit nervous if you do not work according to strict code standards.
• You have experience with RESTful APIs.

Day to day

The day starts with a cup of coffee with colleagues. Have a chat and hear what's going on today. 

Because the not is Friday, you can put that one project live on the staging environment. This gives you the time to resolve any mistakes or errors in a stress-free manner. After going live, you will continue working on a long-term project. You pick up a ticket assigned to you in Jira. You start PhpStorm and work on various features.

Time for lunch. You can join us for our joint lunch or pick up something tasty around the corner at the Albert Cuyp market. The advantage of working in the heart of Amsterdam. After lunch you win a game of Mario Kart from your colleagues and you are recharged for the rest of the day. 

A solution to a problem you encountered earlier that day comes to mind. You start working on it, solve it and move on. 

With the help of Docker, you start your development environment and continue working on the project you were working on in the morning. Obviously your code is perfect and there is nothing to complain about. You complete your last ticket of the day and push the changes to GitHub.
