Corporate Website & Blog
At the end of 2016, Van Ons took over the management of the corporate website and started building the blog. The iWitness program is central to the blog. With the iWitness program, IKEA offers its employees the opportunity to visit projects that receive funding from the IKEA Foundation.
In 2019, the corporate website and the blog came together in one new website. Design agency Kindred from London took care of the design, while we took care of the technical realization and further development. In addition to a major improvement in UX and upgrade of the design, the new website gives space to the five most important spearheads of the foundation.
GlobalSight link. How automated translations save hours of time
The IKEA Foundation has a lot of content in multiple languages. The IKEA Foundation uses GlobalSight for its translations, an open source platform that allows a company to easily coordinate the entire translation process. The web editor places an article in one language in GlobalSight, where the affiliated translators are then notified. The translators make the translation into the relevant languages and place this version back into GlobalSight.
It is of course easier if the content is placed on the website, it is automatically transferred to GlobalSight and the translations are then automatically returned to the website. And that's exactly what we created. The editors only have to place the original article in the back-end of the website once and the link will continue to work. The original article is entered into GlobalSight, translators receive a notification, and translated articles are automatically placed as an article in WordPress. The correct URL structure is also automatically provided correctly. This link saves the website editors many hours of time and of course a lot of frustration!
Monthly updates and daily backups
To keep the IKEA Foundation website safe, updates are provided every month. We update the WordPress core and associated plugins and we make a backup of the database and files every day. The IKEA Foundation is thus assured of a safe and well-functioning site.
