In Vietnam, a concept has recently been developed that uses the relatively new iBeacon technology, but the application is very unique and certainly not from today!
At Van Ons we like to work with new technologies and so also iBeacon technology. In the previous blogs you could already read that there are many different applications conceivable. From recognizing objects to analyzing behavior.
iBeacons also make it very easy to reward customers without them having to do anything. There are already many customer loyalty concepts in which visitors to stores are rewarded by continuing to return. Every time the visitor enters the store with his or her mobile phone, a connection is made with the device using iBeacons and discounts or savings points can be given on the spot, for example, in the associated loyalty app.
These and many other forms of automation are an effect of new technologies and often make life a lot easier. Yet these innovations sometimes make us forget how much fun the classic way of doing things was. For example, you would have had to keep paper stamp cards in your wallet for discounts. When you came by again you could put it crumpled up on the counter again. The shopkeeper then pressed his hand stamp into the ink and then added another print. Almost a full card, I really shouldn't lose it!
In Vietnam someone had not forgotten how fun and authentic that classic stamping is. Yet such a stamp card is not really useful, so why not combine the new that iBeacon technology has to offer with the retro hand stamp?
If you are walking around in Ho Chi Minh City, the capital of Vietnam, you might just walk into a restaurant that rewards you with discounts for repeat visits. They use iBeacons to detect that you are back, but you first have to use the stamp at the counter to fill up your savings card!
Van Ons and iBeacons
At Van Ons we are also constantly working on new technologies and so also the iBeacon technology. In collaboration with Beeld en Geluid we have made an iBeacon case this year for during the queue of the Top 2000 café.
